Kings get only win in NBA Summer League finale

LAS VEGAS, NV - Ben McLemore was given a short, but effective pep talk from Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins at halftime of Friday's Summer League at Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas.

That talk ignited McLemore enough to score 23 points in the second half to help give Sacramento its only victory of Summer League, 93-87 over the Atlanta Hawks. McLemore finished with a game-high 27 points on 10-of-21 shooting.?

Friday's victory was also the first game that the team got a big contribution from both McLemore and fellow rookie draft pick Ray McCallum. He scored 12 points and dished out 11 assists, many of which found McLemore for a few highlight worthy dunks.

Cousins flew to Las Vegas from Los Angeles to support the team, but declined to speak with media. He did allow and interview with the NBA-TV broadcast, where he said he's been working on his defensively.

Off camera, Cousins, donning an Oakland Raiders hat, told News10 that McLemore "looked great."

Cousins returned to Los Angeles before he is scheduled to return to Las Vegas on Sunday, before next week's Team USA basketball minicamp.

The Kings conclude their Summer League with a 1-4 overall record.
