'Octomom' Nadya Suleman's Former Home Back ... - AOL Real Estate

By Catherine Sherman

Nothing like a major remodel to reset the clock on a 1970s tract house. At least, let's hope that's the case with "Octomom" Nadya Suleman's former home in La Habra, Calif. The mom of octuplets made headlines after facing eviction threats and ultimately losing her property to a bank foreclosure last summer. The bank proceeded to sell the four-bedroom house for $492,000 in December.

Now with a new kitchen, flooring, security gates and landscaping, the 2,583-square-foot family home is back on the market for $649,900. Suleman moved from Whittier, Calif., to La Habra after giving birth to the second reported set of octuplets to survive in the U.S. She was unemployed and on public assistance at the time; her father purchased the home for $450,000 under specific mortgage conditions requiring large monthly payments of $4,139 to pay off the full value by March 2010. After missing mortgage payments, Suleman threw the house on the market in September 2011 but eventually lost the home to foreclosure.

According to TMZ, Suleman's house desperately needed a face-lift after it triggered a police and child-services investigation into allegations that Suleman's 14 kids were "living in horrendous conditions and [were] being grossly neglected." Pictures obtained at the time show the words "do not enter" spray painted on the kitchen wall and clothes piled on the floor in the master bedroom.

No signs of those troubles remain now. Entering the suburban home, a contemporary foyer and vaulted ceilings make an inviting statement. A remodeled kitchen and open floor plan create a spacious main floor, while a master with new carpet and en-suite bath extend the living space upstairs. The listing is held by Nic Petrossi of TNG Real Estate Consultants. An estimated mortgage payment on the home is $2,330 a month, a little over half of what Suleman owed in the arrangement set up by her dad.
