Major/Essential Duties of Job:
Tutoring students in writing, public speaking, and audio/video production. Conducting classroom workshops for students. Serving as a course- or department- linked writing tutor as needed. Assisting with peer tutor and consultant training. Representing the writing center at conferences and university events. Assisting with faculty newsletter or PR materials, including web and social media. Serving as night supervisor on a rotating basis (in charge of traffic flow and handling any problems or complaints, as well as conveying information to directors). Serving as team leader for 6 - 8 tutors. Assist with organizing graduate student writing groups and events. Assisting with reception as needed. Assisting with graduate student workshops. Other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's in any field and two years' experience as a writer, editor, teacher of writing or public speaking, or as a tutor/administrator in a writing or speaking center. Good writing and oral communication skills. May require working evening hours, including Sunday evenings. Must work Wednesday mornings 8-10. Requires ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Education and Experience:
Academic specialization in rhetoric (written or oral), video or audio production, written composition , or ESL/EFL. Experience with new media such as video or audio production and editing, web design. Experience with producing or writing speeches, scripts, screenplays, and academic/ technical documents/ Supervisory experience. College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) certification. Knowledge of new media such as audio and video tape production and editing. Document design, social media, and audio/video production skills; working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, web content management systems, and html.
