Get ready for some offshore gambling, a launch of the Black Diamond Casino cruise ship is planned for this weekend from the Port of Palm Beach.
Postponed several times since last summer, cruises of the floating casino are set to begin this weekend after a Coast Guard inspection on Thursday. The ship, formerly the Palm Beach Princess, has undergone $5 million in renovations, which includes an extensive security system. The casino will usually sail with a crew of 150 and 600 passengers but will initially sail with 200 passengers during its first trips to fine tune operations.
The schedule for the floating 160-foot casino will include morning ?trips Wednesday through Sunday and nightly cruises. Ticket prices will vary: mornings (10:30 a.m. - 4 pm.) will be $25; Sunday (11:30 a.m. ? 5 p.m.) $40; nightly (7 p.m.-12 a.m.) $30; Friday and Saturday (7:30 p.m. - 12:30 a.m.) $50. Ticket prices include a meal.
The 600-passenger ship will feature two gambling decks, one dining deck, and live entertainment. Players will be able to try their luck with craps, roulette, Black Jack, Baccarat, three-card poker and 250 slot machines. Black Diamond?s web site claims the boat will be ?Florida?s only full-scale, non-smoking casino.?
