Game Completion Competition: Sworrior's Week 3 Blog

While Anthony crossed the river and visited the Garden State and Christian declared even more games, I took the opportunity to download and beat what may have been one of the deepest, most personal video games I?ve ever had the privilege to play. ?What game am I talking about? ?Braid.Again, I?m not going to use this space to review anything. ?Instead, I?m only going to chronicle my journey from projected third place finisher to?..well, probably third place finisher, but at least I?m clearing out my backlog a few games at a time. ?But, I do want to talk a bit about braid. ?Having seen Indie Game: The Movie, I had the opportunity to listen to the game?s maker and learn a bit about how personal the game is to him. ?I was able to see exactly what he meant when playing through it. ?The game itself introduces a rewind mechanic that, although not wholly original (hello Blinx!), works well here. ?You can?t die, which removes a bit of the frustration, but the puzzles are devilish in places. ?I?m going too far with this, so let me leave you with this: ?if you haven?t played this game, download it and play it now!

The second game I wrapped up was Assassin?s Creed: Brotherhood. ?Since I?m in the advice giving mood, let me tell you to NOT let this game sit for months after you?ve started it. ?Not only did it take me the entire play session to figure out the controls again, but the story was even more convoluted than when I first started playing it. ?What was most disappointing about my wrapping up, was that I was less than two hours away from the end of the game. ?I do have Revelations sitting on the shelf, but I think I?m going to save that for after the competition. ?For now, I still need to wrap up Madworld,?but I do have a big declaration coming for my next game.

Stay tuned and root for me!!!
